Hamburg remembers its Jewish community through monuments that are often overlooked or in fragile condition. Over two years, Performing Denkmal reimagined these sites through performance and created new, utopian memorials in public space.

As an accomplished interdisciplinary artist and cultural preservationist, Yeva Lapsker brought vital cultural authenticity to the critically acclaimed, Primetime Emmy and Grammy-nominated Netflix global phenomenon Unorthodox (2020). Serving as both an on-screen performer and the specialized dance choreographer for the pivotal Hasidic wedding sequence, Yeva seamlessly staged the traditional Yiddish dances that define the emotional centerpiece of the series. Her meticulous historical staging contributed to the rich, immersive world-building that captivated audiences worldwide and helped the 4-part miniseries earn widespread critical acclaim, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing. A participatory dance workshop during 2025's KlezKanada edition exploring improvisation, texture, and movement through painting with the feet. Participants danced barefoot across a large canvas, singing nign, creating a shared artwork and experiencing Yiddish dance in a playful, embodied, and experimental way.
